"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." –Pat Robertson
"I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good...Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism."--Randall Terry, Founder of Operation Rescue, The News-Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 8-16-93
Do you think if Jesus came back to Earth today he'd want to hang out with the likes of moneygrubbing televangelists, or any other of those bunch of intolerant pious phonies who push the Prosperity gospel, whose God is Mammon?
To me, this isn't just a religious issue, it's an extremely political issue, when the Prosperity gospel claims it's sinful to be poor, and so many people seem to fall for this propaganda. Why are we not hearing more of the message of Christian compassion by taking seriously those political words Jesus speaks of Universal love and helping the poor and disadvantaged?
The Beautitudes
Matthew 5:3-12
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
It's not all that complicated to teach the message of compassion and let our voices be heard by speaking truth instead of sitting on the sidelines and letting the narrow, intolerant and greedy message of the Christian right prevail.
